All England Open Championship 2021: All Indian shuttlers including HS Prannoy and Sameer Verma were cleared to compete in the tournament.

New Delhi, March 17: All Indian badminton players have been cleared to compete in the All England Open Championship starting on Wednesday, after the results of their second Kovid RT-PCR test came negative on Wednesday. Earlier, men’s singles players HS Prannoy and Sameer Verma and mixed doubles Pranav Jerry Chopra were among the four Indians who returned positive results in the first round test in the Super 1000 tournament.

Mr. Masur Srinivas was the fourth Indian to return positive results. Badminton Association of India (BAI) general secretary Ajay Kumar Singhania said on Wednesday evening, “Everyone has been allowed to play there. The testing process was something that surprised some players. 2012 London Olympics bronze medalist Saina Nehwal and her husband Parupalli Kashyap tweeted expressing their frustration.

Earlier, India’s men’s doubles coach Mathias Boe posted an Instagram story in which he said that all the players have been cleared to play. He said in his Instagram story, “There is no positive test in the (Indian) team. We are ready for All England (sic).”
