One of the biggest rivals in cricket, India vs Pakistan, may be a feature due to ICC events and being late in the Asia Cup, but the two sides may soon meet in the bilateral series. The last bilateral series between the two countries was played in 2012–13 but since then the one-on-one series came to a standstill due to deteriorating political relations between the two countries. Asia Cup 2021: PCB is not in favor of this year’s edition, the report says.
According to a report in the newspaper of Pakistan rustIndia and Pakistan may meet each other later for a three-year T20 series. According to the publication, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is ready to ask if a case arises in future and a six-day window can be given for three matches in a shorter format to be played.
However, Pakistan Cricket Board President Ehsan Mani on Tuesday denied any contact between the PCB and the Indian board. Sources in the PCB have said that if the series progresses then it will be the Indian team that will visit Pakistan as the last time Pakistan visited India.
In recent years, teams have competed against each other in just the World Cup and Asia Cup. India holds a record head-to-head in these tournaments, winning 13 out of 17 matches in ICC competitions, while registering eight wins in 14 matches in the Asia Cup.
However, it is Pakistan who lead the overall head-to-head record between the two teams. In 199 matches (ODIs, T20s and Tests), the men have won 86 matches compared to India’s 70 wins at Green. India is the frontrunner in T20I matches, registering six wins from eight matches so far.
