Our MLB betting expert is here to offer up his best Dodgers vs Brewers predictions and picks ahead of Wednesday’s third contest of a four-game series slated to start at 8:10 p.m. ET on Fox Sports 1.
The Brewers scored twice in the bottom of the 11th to win Tuesday’s matchup 5-4 and hope the momentum carries over. A good sign is having Eric Lauer on the mound, as he has never lost to the Dodgers in his career.

Dodgers vs Brewers Picks: The Analysis
The Dodgers have lost two of their past three games after winning 15 of their previous 16 games. Los Angeles aims to bounce back behind National League Cy Young candidate Tony Gonsolin.
Milwaukee scored a dramatic victory to even the series when Victor Caratini hit a walk-off two-run single off Dodgers closer Craig Kimbrel in the 11th inning. Slugger Hunter Renfroe set up the victory by dropping down a bunt single to put runners on first and third. Later in the inning, Caratini delivered the winning hit to give the Brewers just their fifth victory in the past 14 games.
Milwaukee is currently outside the National League’s three wild cards, sitting one game behind the San Diego Padres for the final spot. Winning this series would instill more confidence.
Los Angeles owns the best record (80-35) in the majors and leads the Padres by 17 games in the NL West. The club had been playing superbly prior to the recent three-game stretch.
The Dodgers scored 59 runs during a seven-game stretch but have now scored just a total of eight over the past three games. There is no reason for panic but the team did decide on a two-game benching of struggling Cody Bellinger that ends Wednesday.
Los Angeles has been a machine most of the season but per this upcoming game, taking the Brewers plus 1.5 runs feels like a great deal.
Our Pick: Brewers runline +1.5 (-115 BetMGM)
Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Tony Gonsolin is enjoying a career-best season and looks to join Houston Astros ace Justin Verlander as the lone hurlers with 15 victories this season.
Gonsolin ranks fourth in the majors in ERA (2.24), third in WHIP (0.89) and leads in batting average against (.173). The first-time All-Star has struck out 105 in 116 1/3 innings.
Gonsolin has won three straight starts since his lone loss of the season on July 25 to the Washington Nationals. He has never previously faced the Brewers.
Betting on Baseball?
Left-hander Eric Lauer (8-4, 3.64) is enjoying a solid season and his next win will represent a career best. He has struck out 116 in 118 2/3 innings but has served up a career-worst 22 homers.
Lauer is a superb 6-0 with a 2.56 ERA in nine career starts against the Dodgers. Five of the wins (in seven starts) came while he was with the San Diego Padres from 2018-19. Trea Turner is 5-for-10 with two homers off Lauer.
Due to Gonsolin’s hot season and Lauer’s career-long dominance of Los Angeles, we see this score going under.
Our Pick: Under 8.5 runs (-110 FanDuel)
Looking for a Hunter
Joey Gallo is showing life with the Dodgers and slugged his third homer in his last four appearances during Tuesday’s loss. He does have a homer in two career at-bats against Lauer.
Chris Taylor has a homer against Lauer and he also went deep on Tuesday. However, Taylor is just 3-for-19 against Lauer.
Freddie Freeman is 1-for-2 against Lauer and had gone 20 games without a homer before hitting one in Monday’s win over Milwaukee. He could be due to go on a homer run.
Christian Yelich smacked a 451-foot homer for the Brewers, his first long ball since July 2. He was hitless in 26 at-bats before the homer so he’s too big of a risk.
Renfroe has never faced Lauer, his former teammate with the Padres. He hit his 20th homer on Sunday and is always a threat to blast one out of the park.
Our Pick: Hunter Renfroe to hit a home run (+420 FanDuel)
