APC PCC faults Tambuwal over BVAS hacking claim

The All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council on Friday took a swipe at the Director-General of the Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Council, Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State, over his claim that the governing party was plotting to hack the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System.

The BVAS is an innovative electronic device designed by the Independent National Electoral Commission to read permanent voter cards and authenticate voters during a major election.

The Sokoto State governor had alleged during the PDP presidential campaign in Kano on Thursday that the APC had brought in hackers to hack into the device, noting however that the plan would not work.

Reacting to the claim, the spokesperson for the APC PCC, Festus Keyamo, claimed that Nigerians no longer take anything coming from the camp of the PDP seriously.

He said, “Everybody knows the party that depends on hacking. They tried in 2019. They are just telling Nigerians balderdash. People know who the hackers of INEC servers are. In 2019, they tried it and were stopped. The PDP is just trying to trend on rumour.”

The Director of Media and Publicity for PCC, Bayo Onanuga, also chided the PDP, saying in the last few days, the opposition party made outlandish claims and raised false alarms just to grab the headlines.
