Brighton and Hove Albion’s 21-year-old midfielder, Moises Caicedo, has signed a new long-term contract with the club, which will keep him at the Amex Stadium until 2027, with a club option for a further year.

The Ecuador international had been heavily linked with a move away from the club during the January transfer window, with Arsenal reportedly making bids of up to £70million for him.

However, Brighton rejected the offers and have now secured Caicedo’s future with the club.

Head coach Roberto de Zerbi said that the new deal is fantastic news for the club, fans, and especially for Caicedo, who has played an integral part this season. Caicedo joined Brighton in February 2021 from Independiente del Valle and spent the first half of the following season on loan with Belgian side Beerschot.

He made his Premier League debut in April 2022 in a win against Arsenal and has retained his spot in the team ever since.

Brighton currently sit eighth in the Premier League, just four points behind sixth-placed Liverpool and with games in hand over their closest competitors.

Caicedo’s commitment to the club will undoubtedly strengthen their chances of achieving their targets on the pitch as they continue their campaign for a European spot.
