Borussia Dortmund’s talented English midfielder Jude Bellingham has been awarded the 2022/23 Bundesliga Player of The Season.
Despite his remarkable contributions, Bellingham’s team narrowly missed out on the title to Bayern Munich after a 2-2 draw with Mainz on the final day of the season finishing in 2nd place.
Throughout the campaign, the 19-year-old played a pivotal role in Dortmund’s title challenge, showcasing his abilities in 31 league appearances. He notched up an impressive tally of eight goals and provided five assists, solidifying his impact on the field.
Reflecting on his growth as a player, Bellingham expressed gratitude towards his teammates, coaches, and the staff at Dortmund. He acknowledged the increasing responsibility bestowed upon him since joining the club, emphasizing his commitment to contributing both offensively and defensively.
“Every year that I’ve played at the club my responsibility has increased,” said Bellingham.

“I have to continue to be everywhere on the pitch and try my best to contribute going forwards and backwards and try and control games and dominate the midfield.
“My team-mates, the coaches, and the staff have helped me to develop. I came to the club as a talented lad but I have added elements to my game that have taken it to the next level and I think that’s down to them, mainly.”
Speculation has been rife regarding Bellingham’s future, with rumors suggesting a potential move to Real Madrid this summer. The proposed deal is said to exceed 100 million euros. While Liverpool withdrew their interest due to financial considerations, Manchester City, the reigning Premier League champions, are reportedly still interested in securing his services.
Bellingham’s journey began when he joined Dortmund from Birmingham City in 2020 for a transfer fee of £25 million. Since then, he has amassed over 130 appearances for the German club, consistently impressing with his performances.
In addition to his club success, Bellingham has made a significant impact on the international stage. Having earned 24 caps for England, he stood out as one of the top performers in Gareth Southgate’s squad during their memorable run to the quarter-finals of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
