Chelsea Fc’s Winning Squad of 2012 (Total Goals and More)

It is exactly 11 years since Chelsea Football Club won their first Champions League title against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena Munich. On May 19th 2012, it was a close call for Chelsea when the full-time score was 1-1 against Bayern Munich. However, when it came to the penalty shoot-out, Chelsea took the lead scoring 4 goals whereas Bayern Munich scored 3. Didier Drogba scored a goal in the 88th minute whereas their opposing team scored a goal in the 88th minute by Thomas Müller.

Petr Cech- Goalkeeper

Petr Chech first joined Chelsea in 2004 and spent a total of 11 seasons at the club all the way up until 2015. In 2015 Petr Cech left Chelsea to join Arsenal in which he spent a total of four seasons at the club.

Four years later he retired and later returned to Chelsea to become their technical and performance advisor.

Jose Bosingwa- Right Back

Jose Bosingwa played for the club FC Porto for a total of five seasons. He then joined Chelsea and spent four years at the club. During his time here he won two FA Cups and one Champions League with Chelsea.

Bosingwa also won a Champions League with his old team FC Porto in 2004. Just 12 years later, Jose Bosingwa retired from football.

David Luiz- Centre Back

David Luiz is a Brazilian defender that joined Chelsea in 2011 and spent a total of three seasons at the club. Three years later he moved to PSG and stayed for two years before returning to Chelsea in 2016.

Gary Cahill- Centre Back

Gary Cahill is an English defender who joined Chelsea in 2012. He spent seven seasons at the club up until 2019 when he left to join Crystal Palace. Gary Cahill spent a total of two seasons here until he moved to Bournemouth in 2021.

Ashley Cole- Left Back

After Ashley graduated from the Arsenals Youth system, he was then promoted to their senior side in 1999.  Ashley Cole continued at the club for seven years until he joined Chelsea where he spent the next eight seasons.

John Obi Mikel- Defensive Midfield

John Obi Mikel is a Nigerian midfielder that played at Chelsea for a total of 11 seasons from the year 2006. John left Chelsea in 2017 to move to China to continue his football career over there at their well-known club Tianjin TEDA.

Frank Lampard- Central Midfield

Frank joined Chelsea in 2001 and remained at the club for 13 seasons. After he left the club in 2014 he then went on to sign a two-year contract in New York City. Frank Lampard left football in 2016. Three years later he came back to Chelsea to become the new club manager.

Salomon Kalou- Right Wing

Salomon Kalou joined Chelsea in 2006 and remained at the club for six years. Salomon Kalou continued with football until 2021 when he retired.

Juan Mata- Attacking Midfield

Juan Mata is a Spanish midfielder who joined the club in 2011. Jaun came from Valencia and remained at the club for two and a half seasons. Three years later Juan was sold to Manchester United.

Ryan Bertrand- Left Wing

Ryan joined Chelsea’s senior team in 2006 but unfortunately didn’t make his debut for Chelsea in 2011. He has played for multiple clubs such as Bournemouth, Oldham Athletic and Norwich City. Ryan left Chelsea in 2015 where he then went on to join Southampton.

Didier Drogba- Striker

Didier played in the Champions League Cup 2012 and received man of the match. He scored a goal in the 83rd minute taking the score to 1-1. Didier Drogba joined the club in 2004 and remained there for 8 years.

Fernando Torres and Florent Malouda were the two substitutes that came on during the 2012 Champions League Cup.

2021 Champions League

It was a long wait for Chelsea’s next Champions League Cup Win, 9 years to be precise. During this Champions League, Chelsea FC won 1-0 to Manchester City. This match took place in Estádio do Dragão in Portugal. The goal was scored in the 42nd minute by Kai Lukas Havertz (an attacking midfielder).
