Galtier confirms Messi departure, as father refutes Saudi rumours

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) superstar Lionel Messi is set to bid farewell to the club as he gears up for his last match against Clermont Foot this Saturday.

Messi’s impending departure was confirmed by the PSG coach, Christophe Galtier, during a press conference held on Thursday.

Galtier expressed his gratitude for having had the privilege of coaching the greatest player in the history of football, stating, “Clermont Foot will mark Messi’s final game at PSG. It will be Leo’s last match at the Parc des Princes. I hope he will receive the warmest of receptions.”

Following financial issues at his former club, Barcelona, Messi made the move to PSG in 2021 and has since played a crucial role in securing two Ligue 1 titles for the team.

Speculation regarding his future destination has been circulating, with rumors suggesting that the World Cup winner might join Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal following a record €1.2bn offer. However, Messi’s father, Jorge, swiftly dismissed these rumors.

Jorge said, “There is absolutely no truth to any talks with any club for next year. No decisions will be made until Lionel finishes the league season with PSG. Once the season concludes, we will carefully assess the options available and then make a decision.
