Hakimi sees red as PSG fall to shock 3-1 defeat against Lorient

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) fell to a 3-1 defeat to Lorient, with Achraf Hakimi’s red card in the first half making it difficult for the home side to mount a comeback.

Enzo Le Fee opened the scoring for Lorient at Parc des Princes, while Hakimi’s second yellow card left PSG with 10 men. Kylian Mbappe’s controversial finish brought PSG level, but goals from Darlin Yongwa and Bamba Dieng secured the win for the visitors.

PSG has now suffered three defeats in six league matches, although they remain at the top of the Ligue 1 table with a comfortable lead over second-placed Marseille.

The match began poorly for PSG as Hakimi’s reckless challenge on Romain Faivre saw him receive a yellow card, and things only got worse when Le Fee scored for Lorient. Hakimi was then sent off after lunging at Yongwa, leaving PSG with a man disadvantage.

Mbappe’s bizarre goal, after Lorient’s goalkeeper Yvon Mvogo mistakenly thought he had a free-kick and dropped the ball in his box, brought PSG back on level terms. However, Lorient quickly regained their lead when Yongwa capitalized on a defensive mistake to score.

Despite being a man down, PSG pushed for another equalizer in the second half, with Sergio Ramos coming close with a header. However, Lorient sealed the win with a breakaway goal from Dieng.

The defeat was PSG’s third in six league matches, raising concerns about a potential collapse. Nonetheless, PSG remains at the top of the Ligue 1 table, eight points clear of second-placed Marseille with a game in hand.
