Operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority and the Lagos State Police Command have entered into a partnership to strengthen traffic management in Lagos State.
LASTMA boss, Mr Bolaji Oreagba, disclosed this during a courtesy visit by the Lagos State Commissioner for Police, CP Idowu Owohunwa, to the agency’s headquarters in Oshodi, Lagos.
This was disclosed in a statement by the Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of LASTMA, Adebayo Taofiq, on Saturday.
Oreagba added that road users would benefit from this partnership in the area of efficient and effective management of traffic.
He highlighted areas where partnership with the Lagos State Police Command was most required including Iyana Oworonsoki, Iyana-Ipaja, Ojuelegba Bridge, Ikorodu Round-About, Ikorodu Road, Lekki-Ajah, Obalende, Marine/Eko bridge, Costain, Igando, Apapa-Oshodi Expressway, Egbeda, Ketu amongst others.
Speaking, Owohunwa hailed the Lagos State Government for the establishment of LASTMA.
“Yes, the presence of LASTMA officers at different choke points managing and controlling traffic on roads has made security job easier for policemen at various divisions in Lagos.”
While urging officers of the agency not to be discouraged in spite of provocations, Owohunwa promised a structure that would be a bridge for both agencies of government.
