The Chief Medical Director of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Professor Adetokunbo Fabamwo, has refuted claims that the facility was gutted by fire.

Recall that earlier, it was reported that a building on the premises of LASUTH was gutted by fire.

Reportr Door Healthwise learnt that the fire, which reportedly started around 4 pm, caused panic among workers and patients at the hospital

The Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye, who confirmed the incident, said officials of the agency were mobilised to the scene, adding that had been put out.

“It is a minor fire and it has been put out. Expect an official statement soon,” Adeseye said.

However, when contacted by Reportr Door Healthwise, the CMD confirmed that there was actually a fire incident, but said that it affected just one of the shops in the hospital’s commercial area.

He said,“One of the shops in the commercial area of LASUTH caught fire at about 4 pm this evening.  The situation was promptly brought under control through the intervention of the Lagos State Fire Service. We thank all of those that sympathised with us.”
