Riyad Mahrez scored a hat-trick against Sheffield United in the FA Cup semi-final to send Manchester City into the finals.
The win has put City on track for a treble this season as they are also through to the Champions League semi-finals and are still in the running for the Premier League title.
The Blades had a great opportunity to take an early lead within 90 seconds, but Iliman Ndiaye could only fire straight at City’s goalkeeper. Erling Haaland then scored for the City after 15 minutes, but the goal was disallowed due to a prior foul. Julian Alvarez then had a chance to score with his long-range shot, but City’s goalkeeper made a diving save.

Four minutes before half-time, Daniel Jebbison’s challenge on Bernardo Silva resulted in a penalty for City which Mahrez converted. City’s second goal came on the hour mark when Mahrez won the ball from Max Lowe at the halfway line and ran through the Blades’ defence to score. Six minutes later, Mahrez completed his hat-trick after Jack Grealish passed the ball to him.
United’s hope of a comeback in the second half was extinguished by Mahrez’s two quick goals. The win has put City on the path to win three trophies this season.
City is already in the semi-finals of the Champions League and five points behind Arsenal, whom they face on Wednesday, with a game in hand in the Premier League title race.
