Manchester City took a significant step towards retaining their Premier League title with a victory over Everton at Goodison Park. The win leaves City needing just two more victories to secure their third consecutive league championship.

To guarantee the title, Pep Guardiola’s side must secure six points from their remaining matches against Chelsea, Brighton, and Brentford. Everton had a golden opportunity to take the lead when Mason Holgate inexplicably missed an open chance at the far post, hooking the ball over the bar from close range.

However, City showcased their clinical nature in front of goal by responding swiftly. In a span of two minutes, they netted two goals after previously being second-best in the match.

Ilkay Gundogan was instrumental in all three of City’s goals, scoring a sublime flicked finish and providing the assist for Erling Haaland’s close-range header.

In the second half, Gundogan curled in a spectacular free-kick from the edge of the area, solidifying City’s lead. The victory propelled them four points clear at the top of the table, although Arsenal could reduce the deficit with a win over Brighton later that day.

The defeat for Everton leaves them in a precarious position, nervously looking over their shoulders as they hover just one point above the relegation zone. They have two games remaining to secure their top-flight status.
