Manchester United secured a much-needed 1-0 win over Brentford at Old Trafford on Wednesday marking their return to form in the Premier League after a three-match winless run.
The match saw Marcus Rashford score the only goal of the game in the first half, as United controlled the game and limited Brentford’s chances. The win moved United back into fourth place, ahead of Tottenham.
United dominated the early stages of the match but struggled to create clear opportunities, with Scott McTominay firing over the bar and Antony curling wide. However, in the 27th minute, Marcel Sabitzer’s headed ball set up Rashford to score after Brentford failed to clear a corner.

Brentford almost took advantage of a rare defensive mistake from United shortly after the restart, with Ivan Toney putting David de Gea under pressure, but the keeper’s clearance bounced off Rashford and narrowly missed the post. Nonetheless, United managed to remain in control until the final whistle.
Despite failing to score more goals, the win was important for United, who have struggled for consistency in the league this season.
The three points put them back in contention for a top-four finish, especially with a crucial run of fixtures coming up in the next few weeks.
