Abdul Maikaba, the Technical Adviser of Rangers International, expressed the significance of the point his team earned from a goalless draw against Doma United Football Club.
He described it as a vital point, stating that it was worth more than 100 points.
The match, which took place at the Pantami Township Stadium as part of the 2022/2023 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Group B fixtures, saw Rangers International executing their game plan successfully to avoid defeat.
Maikaba expressed his happiness with the result, considering it beneficial for his team’s position in the league and their efforts to remain in the NPFL. He did, however, mention that it would have been even better if his players had capitalized on the scoring chances they had during the game.

“I feel excited actually. It is a good result for us. Getting a result from Gombe against Doma United is something good for my team at this point in time because it will help us a lot to consolidate our position in the league.”

The coach acknowledged that his players were eager to score, which led to a sense of anxiety and rushed attempts. Nonetheless, he emphasized that the one point gained was enough and commended his opponents, Doma United, for their excellent young players, earning their respect in the league.
“They were eager to put the ball at the back of the net and, in so doing, they became too much in a hurry and got it wrong.
“All the same, one point is enough. Our game plan worked very well,” he said.
On the other hand, Akinade Onigbinde, the Technical Adviser of Doma United, expressed disappointment with the result, considering it a “very bad” game.
He acknowledged his team’s efforts to secure victory and their need for maximum points to secure their spot in the Super Six. Onigbinde attributed the unfavorable outcome to his players not adhering to the game plan and wasting numerous scoring opportunities.
