The Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Madiba FC of Lagos, Alhaja Basirat Adeyemi, has said the target of her team is to compete in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) at the end of the season.
The Lagos-based team are competing in the Nigeria National League (NNL) after gaining promotion from Nationwide League One (NLO) penultimate season.
Speaking with Sporting Tribune on the sideline of unveiling sponsorship for the NLO in Abuja during the week, Adeyemi expressed the readiness of her team to join the ‘big boys’ in Nigeria’s elite league.
She stated that the team has recruited young players who she said are raring to go to deliver the NPFL ticket at the end of the season. She added that the ability of the players is not in doubt with the promise that the management will give the players all they need to succeed.
“I can tell you that we are prepared for the season. We have signed young, upcoming and promising players whom we believe will prosecute the league very well for us. With the mixture of young and experienced players, we are good to go. We believe in their ability to gain promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) at the end of the season.
“We will be picking our games one at a time. We have the likes of Dakkada, Abia Comets in our group. But with God, all things are possible. By the grace of God and with dedication and hard work on the part of the players, we want to join Sporting Lagos in the NPFL and be the second team from Lagos in the league. We’ll give the players the best of support to succeed,” Adeyemi told Sporting Tribune
Madiba FC are in group A of the Southern Conference alongside Smart City FC, Beyond Limits, 1472 FC, 12FC, Vandrezzer FC, Dakkada, Rovers FC, Coal City, Abia Comets and Stormers FC.
