Qualifier: Olympics Eagles beat Tanzania in Ibadan

Nigeria on Saturday progressed into the final round of the 2023 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers after defeating Tanzania 2-0 in the second leg at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan.

Olympics Eagles now advance to the next round

with 3-1 on aggregate.

Recall, the Salisu Yusuf-led side held Tanzania to a 1-1 draw in the first leg in Dar es Salaam last Saturday.

After a goalless first half, the U-23 Eagles eventually broke the deadlock, thanks to goals from Ogunniyi Omojesu and Success Makanjuola.

Speaking after the match, Nigeria U23 team coach said he’s happy with the performance of his players optimistic they will improve as they progress.

Recall Nigeria were forced to a 1-1 draw last weekend by Tanzania and it stand, Olympics Eagles will face the winner between Uganda or Guinea in the AFCON final qualifier.

Oyo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Mr Seun Fakorede thanked the people of the state for their support saying more of it to come.
