The Sokoto State Chapter of the All Progressive Congress has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission and security agencies in the state to set up a committee to investigate those who destroyed election materials in the just concluded presidential election held last Saturday.

The Chairman of the party in the state, Isah Achida, stated this while briefing newsmen on Saturday.

He further called on INEC to, as a matter of urgency, replace all the officials who allegedly compromised their positions and connived with politicians to subvert the electoral process.

“We the state chapter of APC in Sokoto state call on INEC and security operatives to set up a powerful committee to investigate those who perpetrated violence at the last election.

” It is our considered view that all individuals who committed such offences and their sponsors should be identified individually and arrested, with a view to prosecuting them in accordance with the law of the land,” he added.

The chairman however commended the recent judgement by the supreme Court of Nigeria, which reinstates the legal tender status of old N1000, N500 and N200 notes to continue to exist till end of this year.

“The ruling represents another victory for Nigeria and the ruling APC.

“The landmark ruling would surely ease the current cash crunch and the resultant economic difficulties faced by our people”. he added.
