The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has advised members of staff of Alimosho General Hospital to treat all their patients with passion regardless of political affiliation, religion, or race.

The governor gave the advice, according to a statement on Tuesday, during his annual Christmas visit to the hospital in Igando.

Sanwo-Olu, who was represented by the Director of Medical Services, Lagos State Health Service Commission, Dr. Olugbenga Oyekan, also urged the patients not to be depressed by their health status or for not being able to celebrate with their loved ones at home.

He said, “The achievements of this administration in the health sector were only possible through the dedication and commitment of the hospital staff members. Alimosho General Hospital is a flagship hospital. It is the only hospital in Lagos State that has two maternal and child centres and also boasts the highest number of patients.

“I must remind the workforce of the essence of Christmas and urge you to maintain equal standards and passion when attending to the medical and other needs of patients regardless of their political affiliation, religion, sex, race, or belief just as Jesus Christ was fair to everyone in all his dealings.

“Medical professionals must begin to see themselves as benchmarks for practitioners outside the country instead of always aspiring to live up to international standards. You also can make international standard a reality despite some obvious limitations around.”

The hospital’s Medical Director, Dr. Ayodapo Soyinka, noted the achievements of the hospital, including the introduction of Electronic Medical Records and an e-card system to further improve the health care of Lagos residents.

“Within the short time that the EMR was introduced, over 500 persons have been registered and captured electronically,” he said.
