Bayern Munich suspend Sadio Mane following bust-up with Leroy Sane

Bayern Munich has taken the decision to suspend Sadio Mane due to his altercation with teammate Leroy Sane.

Following the club’s 3-0 defeat to Manchester City in the Champions League, Mane was found to have punched Sane in the dressing room, leaving a mark on the German player.

Club officials held an emergency meeting to address the situation, and as a result, Mane has been suspended and fined.

The Senegalese player will not feature in the squad for the home game against 1899 Hoffenheim, and it is unknown whether the suspension will last beyond this match.

“Sadio Mane, will not be in the FC Bayern squad for the home game against 1899 Hoffenheim next Saturday. The reason is misconduct by Mane after FC Bayern’s Champions League game at Manchester City. In addition, Mane will receive a fine,” a statement read.

The decision was made following discussions between CEO Oliver Kahn and sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic.

Initial reports suggested that Bayern might sell Mane during the summer transfer window, but the player has expressed remorse for his actions.

The punishment, as it stands, is a temporary suspension. Mane was allowed to train with the team on Thursday, and he was not required to apologize to Sane or the rest of the squad. However, he has been temporarily removed from the club, and the situation is expected to be discussed during manager Thomas Tuchel’s press conference on Friday.

Bayern will face Hoffenheim on Saturday before turning their attention to the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final against Manchester City, and it remains to be seen whether Mane will be involved.
