Chelsea has reached a deal to sign 16-year-old Kendry Paez midfielder from Ecuadorian club Independiente del Valle.
The transfer will take effect when Paez turns 18 in 2025.
Despite being only 16 years old, Paez has already made a name for himself with six senior appearances. In February, he made history as the youngest debutant and goalscorer in Ecuador’s top flight.

Paez also made his debut in the Copa Libertadores, contributing to a victory over Corinthians. His skills were further showcased as he captained Ecuador’s Under-17 team in the Copa America, scoring a goal and providing three assists in the recent Under-20 World Cup.
A statement on Chelsea’s website confirming the move said, “The Ecuadorian, who will join Chelsea after his 18th birthday, has already built a reputation in South America as one of the brightest and most creative young talents around, thanks to his combination of skilful dribbling along with the vision and technique to open up defences with his passing.”
