Gombe United beat Niger Tornadoes 1-0

Gombe United player, Umar Abba, in the 13th minute, scored the lone goal that gave his side victory during the match day nine fixture of the Nigerian Premier Football League played at the Pantami Township Stadium, Gombe State, on Sunday.

The Chief coach of Niger Tornadoes, Maji Mohammed, said the match had been lost and that his team would look forward to seeing how to earn maximum points in subsequent matches.

Mohammed spoke in a post-match conference, stressing that the match’s result for his team was negative and he would look forward to a brighter encounter going forward.

He said, “The match is a setback because if we had gotten a point, it would have been a plus. We came here with a plan but it didn’t work as planned.

“This means that we will go back home and plan our next home game and see how to secure our own three points.”

On his part, the coach of Gombe United, Alhaji Kwairanga, explained that their win against their opponents was the best gift ever.

He noted that the gained point was vital in their effort to succeed in the NPFL.

He said, “Getting maximum points against Niger Tornadoes is a big relief and the most important thing for us today in our effort to climb up on the league table.”

Kwairanga noted that the game plan for the match was successfully executed with the home win.

“Our game plan worked because we were looking for the three points and we got it. We are not motivated at all; we are seeking and pleading with the state government to come to our rescue so that we can do more,” he said.
