The Super Eagles Supporters Club (SESC) has said it would be sponsoring at least 200 of its members to Algeria to drum and support for the national U17 male team, the Golden Eaglets.
SESC President, Dr Johnson Amawoei Dagana, revealed this at the first National Executive Council (NEC) of the Club on Wednesday in Abuja, since their election on 1st April 2023.
According to Dagana, the NEC, among other things, has ratified their election and has also approved for at least 200 members to travel to Algeria to support the five-time world champions during the AFCON U17 championship which starts on Saturday, April 29, 2023.
“This is our first National Executive Council (NEC) after the election on the 1st of April, 2023. Our discussions are bothered on how to galvanize our people, in support of the various national team matches that are coming up. How to launch a few new chapters that are ready and to give the Super Eagles the necessary support.
“We intend to give maximum support to the national teams during the competitions that are starting soon. We have mobilized over 200 of our members for the U17 AFCON in Algeria. We also have the U20 in Argentina, and the Super Falcons will play in Australia and New Zealand.
“We would not be able to do it alone. We are calling on corporate bodies and individuals to give us support to be able to register our presence in these football competitions for Nigeria,” Dagana stated.
SESC, one of the most respected supporters club across the world, was at AFCON 2022 hosted by Cameroon where one of its side attraction crew, Iyabo Afolabi, was awarded the Fan of the Match in one of the games and in the just concluded AFCON Under 20, Egypt 2023, Alhaji Musiliu Alao Jimoh, another member, received the Fan Award from Orange.
