Conte launches scathing attack on Tottenham players following 3-3 Southampton draw

Tottenham coach Antonio Conte made some scathing remarks about the club’s mentality and his players following their 3-3 draw with Southampton in the Premier League.

Despite leading 3-1, Tottenham conceded twice in the closing stages of the game, including a 97th-minute equalizer from the penalty spot.

Conte expressed his frustrations in a post-match press conference, calling out his players as “selfish” and criticizing their lack of teamwork. He went on to suggest that the club is “used to” underachieving and that they are losing the characteristics that helped them succeed last season.

“I’m not used to seeing these types of situations,” he said. “I see a lot of selfish players and I don’t see a team.” Conte added that the club, the coach, and the players must all take responsibility for the team’s recent struggles.

“They’re used to it here. Don’t play for something important,” he said. “They don’t want to play under pressure. They don’t want to play under stress.”

Conte also highlighted Tottenham’s long-standing issues and questioned why the club has failed to win anything in the past 20 years despite having had important coaches. “Tottenham’s story is this. 20 years there is the owner and they never won something. Why?” he said.

He continued, “If they want to continue in this way, they can change the manager, a lot of managers, but the situation cannot change. Believe me. For the rest of the season, we risk finishing outside Europe [qualification].”

Overall, Conte’s comments made it clear that he is deeply dissatisfied with Tottenham’s performances and that he believes the club must improve its mentality and commitment if they hope to achieve success.
