FIVE different group golfers are to feature at the maiden edition of Ibadan Golf Club (IGC) Inter Kitty Group competition.
The one-day competition is scheduled for this weekend at the IGC with a lot of prizes to be won.
According to the IGC Competition Secretary, Mr Ayo Aluko, the competition was aimed at improving the participants’ games and the game of golf as well.
He said five kitty groups will kick start the maiden edition of the competition.
“With IGC, we have several kitty groups playing together to socialise and improve their games.
“This is the maiden edition of the competition and it was designed to foster good relationship within the kitty groups and ultimately improve the game of golf in Nigeria especially at IGC.
“The kitty groups are represented here [at press briefing] and they are Golf Time Out, Ref Cap Chiefs, Jammers, Fun Golfers and Monday Caddies/ Members kitty groups.
“One of the members of the Monday kitty group, Lati Adeyemo won a gold medal for Oyo State at the ongoing National Sports Festival in Delta State,” Aluko said.
He charged members of IGC and golfers across the country to embrace the idea and form kitty groups in order to raise the standard of the game.
Also, a trustee of IGC, Alhaji Jelili Adesiyan, fondly called Smoking Jallo lauded the organiser of the tournament, “This is a noble one and I must thank the organiser because the competition will enhance good brotherhood among us,” he said.
Also, former Captain of IGC, Barrister Idowu Salami, said the tournament is the first of its kind, as it has never happened in the history of IGC before saying
“I must give kudos to the organiser of this competition.”
