Egyptian authorities announced on Wednesday that two people were arrested on suspicion of burglarizing the Cairo villa owned by Egyptian soccer star Mohamed Salah while he was out of the country earlier this month.
The Interior Ministry of Egypt released a statement stating that the suspects stole several items from the Liverpool forward’s luxurious home, including several pairs of soccer cleats, a medal, a small crystal ball, and cable TV receivers. Salah’s villa is located in the upmarket area of Tagamoa, 30 miles (48 kilometers) east of Cairo’s center.
It remains unclear whether the suspects have been charged with a crime or have legal representation. The identities of the accused individuals have not been revealed.

Authorities stated that both individuals confessed to climbing over the villa’s rear wall on March 2 when the property was empty. Salah’s agent notified authorities of the break-in on Sunday, and the men were arrested less than 48 hours later.

One of the accused had previously worked as a security guard in the neighborhood and was aware that the villa was vacant, according to the ministry. All of the stolen goods have been returned.
Previously, police officials informed the Associated Press that only TV cable receivers were stolen from the house.
Salah is Liverpool’s all-time record Premier League goal scorer and spends much of the year in England. He joined Liverpool in 2018 from Roma and hails from the Nile Delta town of Nagrig.
