How Lionel Messi received news of suspension before returning to PSG

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) Sporting Advisor, Luís Campos, called Lionel Messi on Monday evening to inform him of his suspension and the opening of disciplinary proceedings against him, according to France Bleu and RMC Sport.

This was after Messi’s unauthorised trip to Saudi Arabia, where he was fulfilling contractual obligations as a tourism ambassador, resulting in a two-week suspension.

PSG’s decision was made before Messi’s return to the club, and it appears that the Argentine has lost the support of the club’s hierarchy. As a result, the prospects of a contract extension in Paris are now unlikely, and it remains to be seen if Messi will play for the club again before departing.

Messi will miss the upcoming matches against Troyes and Ajaccio due to his suspension. PSG will then face relegation battlers Auxerre and Strasbourg, followed by a home match against high-flying Clermont to conclude their season. With the club’s 11th Ligue 1 title still within reach, the team could have done without this off-pitch controversy as Marseille sits only five points behind in the standings.

However, amidst this controversy, there have been reports of Ocampos calling for Messi to join Sevilla. Ocampos, an Argentine teammate of Messi, has publicly stated that he would be happy to see Messi at the Andalusian club. It remains to be seen whether this call will bear fruit and how Messi’s situation at PSG will develop in the coming weeks.
