American sprinter Tori Bowie tragically passed away due to complications during childbirth, as confirmed by her agent.

Bowie, renowned for her outstanding performances on the track, achieved notable success, including winning a gold medal in the 4x100m relay at the Rio Olympics in 2016, along with a silver medal in the 100m and a bronze medal in the 200m.

She was just 32 years old when she passed away at her home in Florida in May.

Her agent, Kimberly Holland, expressed her distress over the speculation surrounding Bowie’s death, emphasizing that it had been hurtful. Holland hopes that with the truth now known, apologies will be extended.

An autopsy report obtained by USA Today Sports ruled Bowie’s death as “natural.” At the time of her passing, she was estimated to be eight months pregnant and experiencing labor. The report highlighted potential complications, including respiratory distress and eclampsia, a condition characterized by seizures during pregnancy.

In May, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office responded to a welfare check request for a woman in her 30s who had not been seen or heard from in several days. The woman, tentatively identified as Frentorish ‘Tori’ Bowie, was discovered deceased in her residence.

Bowie made an impressive transition from long jump to sprinting in 2014 and immediately made her mark on the track, establishing herself as the fastest woman in the world that year.

Notably, she became the only American woman to secure an Olympic or world 100m title since Carmelita Jeter’s victory in 2011.

It is a heartbreaking loss for the athletics community, and Tori Bowie will be remembered for her exceptional talent and contributions to the sport.
