The Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency has called on security personnel and other stakeholders to partner with communities and intensify their patrol as the yuletide season draws close.

The General Manager of LNSA, Dr Ifalade Oyekan, made the call on Tuesday, during a stakeholder and sensitisation programme on security held in Onikan, Lagos.

Oyekan, in his address, urged members of the community to always report any crime perpetrator within their sphere of influence to security operatives.

He said, “Tackling the security challenges in the state should be a concerted effort of both the security personnel and civilians because everyone has a role to play.

“I also want to call the attention of other security personnel in the state to the yuletide season that is fast approaching and the attendant crime rate associated with the end of the year. This is the time when all law enforcement agencies will work hard and intensify their efforts to ensure law and order are restored. I urge other relevant security personnel to collaborate with LNSA to forestall security challenges in the state.”

The Nigerian Army representative, Brigadier Muhammed Abubakar, promised to support and partner with LNSA to reduce crime in the state.

On his part, a representative of the Nigerian Navy, Lieutenant Godwin Egbunu said, “Security challenges across the country did not suddenly emerge, it was a result of indiscipline and the manner in which some parents groom their children that turned them to hoodlums who are now threatening the security atmosphere of the community.”
