Manchester United secured a 2-0 victory against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground, which helped them solidify their position in the Champions League qualification spot on Sunday.

Erik ten Hag’s men climbed up to the third spot in the Premier League table after Newcastle United’s loss to Aston Villa on Saturday.

Forest, who had not won in 10 matches, remained in the relegation zone, behind Everton on goal difference. United, who already had injury issues, faced another setback when Marcel Sabitzer suffered a groin injury during the warm-up. Christian Eriksen replaced him in the starting line-up, but it did not seem to weaken the Red Devils’ performance.

United took advantage of a moment of luck when a Forest corner struck Harry Maguire’s outstretched arm at the far post, but no penalty was given.

Fernandes had been controlling the midfield, and in the 32nd minute, he provided a throughball to Anthony Martial. Although the Frenchman’s shot was saved by Keylor Navas, Antony followed up with a simple tap-in at the back post.
