Memphis Grizzlies star player Ja Morant has been suspended from all team activities after appearing to hold a gun in a video on social media.

This is the second incident involving Morant and firearms, as he was previously suspended for eight games without pay in March for a similar incident in a Colorado nightclub.

In the recent video, Morant was seen briefly holding up a gun in a car while on a live Instagram broadcast with a friend. The NBA has stated that it is investigating the matter, and the Grizzlies have suspended Morant pending league review.

Following the previous incident in March, Morant apologized and took full responsibility for his actions. He acknowledged the need to learn better methods of dealing with stress and emphasized the importance of his overall well-being.

Morant also underwent counseling during his previous suspension.

The Glendale Police Department conducted an investigation into the nightclub incident but did not find enough evidence to press charges against anyone involved. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver described Morant’s conduct at the time as irresponsible, reckless, and potentially dangerous. However, he acknowledged that Morant had expressed remorse and appeared to have learned from the incident.

The Grizzlies’ playoff run ended in the first round with a defeat to the Los Angeles Lakers last month. The NBA’s response to this latest incident involving Ja Morant is pending further information and review.
